T-Fal Avante Elite 6 Slice Convection & Toaster Oven with Separate Warming Compartment

place was a little too long, but in any case you should experiment with this feature before relying on it. Some people have complained about getting things fixed in the warmer parts, but I guess that would not happen if you used the free non-stick pan that T-FAL provides that section. They also include two shelves for frying or baking, a rear carrier and another non-stick frying pan for use in the oven.

One must be careful when removing hot items, always have two oven mitts on. The baking plates glide very easily on their tracks, so when you think you just remove the pot, you could end up with a hot baking rack to shoot against yourself, too - and there is nothing to prevent it from coming all the way out. The sliding rack can be a handy feature, but not when you do not expect it!

I saw one review that complained about the fan is very loud. When I first got in, it was also very high and I was annoyed and disappointed. But later that day, according to new toy for the rest of the family, I could not hear the growling sound anymore. You hear the convection fan, but it is not higher than one would expect - probably a lot quieter than our old microwave. I have no idea why it was so loud the first time, but it is good now. Maybe just had to get used to running.

List price is probably around $ 140, but it would not be worth it for us. Amazon had it at different discount rates - sometimes less than the non-convection model, which is really confusing for shoppers. It is listed at about $ 80 on the day I write this review and I think that's about the best rate you can find anywhere, and definitely a good value.

I find the controls easy to use and relatively intuitive. I did the scan manually, but I did not use it for cooking activities. When you toast, say "bowl" and so on, and displays the temperature you set it, and when you do it. Very clever. What is amazing is that the same piece of electronics that provide all these wonderful buttons and displays, is also responsible for the design of the goofy clock.

I'm not sure you really need a clock on a toaster - surely you have other clocks in the kitchen! - But if they go to put a clock on it, they should make the darn thing visible at all times, not only when you stand next to it under bright light.

The warmer the function does not seem to be completely thought out or implemented. Maybe one day I need it, but right now it seems like a waste of space to be used very carefully.

While the oven is actually cool to the touch on the sides, but NOT back! The manual warns about this, but I accidentally touched the back of the unit when cooking, and luckily it was only a fraction of a second, but it was close to giving me a great burn. I'm pretty sure that * all * Toaster Oven with similar problems. But very good insulation of the pages in this unit makes a little less careful about the parts that are not insulated well, I guess.

In these times, it is very useful to have a small oven that can do jobs that would waste energy on a full-sized oven. The compact kitchen is to have the same drive makes toast and do other tasks a plus. It is the first time we have taken one, so I can not say where it stands relative. So I gave it 4 out of 5 stars to make the most of what it claims to be able to do, with good controls and features, and with only a few small weaknesses, which are described here.

Breville BOV650XL Compact 4-Slice Smart Oven with Element IQ

Like almost everyone else in the free world, I grew up with a GE Toast-R-oven. I've cooked everything from toast (of course) pizza bagels (an important discovery as early as the 70th century) to TV dinners, and even baked fish in it. When I received as a gift when I bought my first house finely gave up the ghost, I replaced it with a $ 100 Hamilton Beach countertop convection oven can bake a whole bread, two pies, or a meatloaf. It also had a rotisserie with a spit you can impale a chicken, although I never tested this feature. I used it for years and did everything one would expect a compact Toaster Oven, except to make toast. The burners were too far apart.

Enter the Breville. Instead of mechanical timer and temperature control of the Hamilton Beach (and GE before that), this unit has full electronic control, which promises to be more precise in both functions. It can handle (say) a 12 "pizza, 4 slices of toast. So how does all this mean in practice?

As a toaster, it's fantastic. It toasts evenly than my $ 20 Target toaster and pull out crumb tray makes cleaning easy. Repeatability of excellent and you can obviously see the bread / bagel / what the bowls, watch out for burning. It compensates for the heat when you toast several items in a row, a big help. Still, for close to $ 200 you expect more than just toast from a machine like this.

I have not tried to bake a pie yet, but I did a little mini-muffins and they came out great. I have not done anything other than bread because it is far too small to handle a standard loaves of the size I bake. Maybe I can make some buns or rolls in it.

The timer function is a bit annoying in how it works. You set the time and temperature, and when it comes up to temperature, it begins the countdown. This is good for frozen pizzas and TV dinners, but less good for bakers trying to control the baking environment. I would prefer something that would come up to temperature and then wait for me to start the timer.

Half of the features on the main button is preset cooking programs such as microwave ovens in the lunchroom, which has buttons "Soup", "sandwich" and so on. There is a "cookies" feature but I have lots of different cookie recipes with different time and temperature settings. This program is worthless to me.

So: A great toaster and a good oven to bake very small objects. There is something deeper than the old Toast-R-oven, but still not large enough to handle more than a quarter sheet cake or a small pie. Useful for what it is, but given the price, it's getting close to a luxury single oven. I think the Breville BOV800XL Smart Oven 1800 Watts Convection Toaster Oven with Element IQ, resulting in convection and a larger furnace is a better deal overall, and if you really want a useful secondary furnace, as my Hamilton Beach 31197R Countertop Oven with Convection and Rotisserie is much more flexible.

Follow-up:

After just over three months using this oven, I am more convinced than ever that this is a great (if pricey) toaster. Unlike the pop-up toaster on my desk, you can set exactly the actual roasting time very practical and you can see until you get the right shade of Browning looking for.

I have also become more sympathetic to its use as an oven, too. There is still a bit small for most baking uses, but it is big enough to roast peppers or bake a few potatoes or even a small batch of cookies. I still think the larger version is a better all-around device, but for a small apartment kitchen, this may be a good choice.

Six-month update:

I think I've used this stove more and more for all of my toast and small baking needs, it also takes over some of the tasks I used to do in my microwave. It is still reliable, easy to maintain, and the precise electronic timer is a great improvement over the mechanical timers in cheaper ovens in both accuracy and reliability.

Cuisinart TOB-155 Toaster Oven, Stainless and Black

I have had this Cuisinart Toaster since August last year and use it several times a week for baking or rear. I cook mostly for one person (me) and I do not like to warm up my big oven just to cook a chicken breast or two.

It always works fine. Heat is even (no "hot spots" that I can find) and heaters to the desired temperature quickly. I have used it to cook pizza, chicken of all kinds, fish (it does really well sizzling Bacon-wrapped scallops) and fried vegetables. I like that it has two rack positions, and you can "flip" rack, so you have four height options for rack.

One of its strongest points is the interior size. You can fit a very large pot inside without any problems. It is a bit on the bulky side - the footprint is only slightly larger than my old toaster oven, but this is slightly higher. Something to think about - you need some space for this. I have it hidden in a corner of my kitchen sink base cabinet, and it is kind of the way until I'm ready to use it.

It is also easy to clean - partly because of the size of the interior, and partly because of their easy to remove crumb tray.

Now, for less design errors. The stainless steel trim on the glass door below the handle wraps around the inside of the door, which means that it is exposed to heat from the oven. It also means that the portion of the trim on the * outside * heats up at the same temperature. The handle itself remains cool, but to trim stripe underneath gets hot enough to burn. I am a new and burns on my left hand while I write this from tonight's adventures with roasted potatoes. I've been here for over six months, used it dozens of times and I still manage to burn myself on it once every two weeks or so. You really have to be careful. Either use an oven mitt, or use a hot plate and hold it so that it covers the trim strip.

This is not a fatal flaw in my opinion - it's more of a disadvantage, but one that can cause some pain that you are not careful. I would give it 4.5 stars if I could -

Toast
It toasts evenly and there are seven levels of work-related opportunity to choose from. But that does not toasted dark brown without bread for two times.
~ Edit 05/22/2009
Pressing 4-6 record button you can get darker toast in the first attempt. ~

Baking
SFB 155 cooks pretty evenly to a toaster. Mine seems to run warm, clear baked a couple of minutes faster than my regular oven. I have baked cakes, banana bread, chicken, frozen french fries, frozen fried chicken, baked potatoes and corn bread in it. They all came out very well.

Rear
I cooked chicken and it came out very well. The broiling pan that comes with it is very robust. And props the door open part way.

Other Features
* Crumb catcher ... I like it. No more dodging the heating element when cleansing, prepared from the spill.
* It has handles on the outside of the bottom, which is handy for turning the unit around when you want to empty the crumb tray.
* Two positions for the racks. And the railing itself is designed to sit higher or lower on each item, if you turn one way or another.
* The manual. It has tips for optimal roasting rack positioning, etc.
* Construction. This unit seems pretty robust.

Cons
* Cord. At 30 "tall, is just the other side of the device. I bought a heavier cord household extension works well. At first I used a regular string, but when I used the oven just to toast it was almost too hot to touch.
* Price. Surely someone who can do as good a kiln for less!
* Footprint. My bread maker takes up less desk space. Currently oven sits on top of my microwave.
* The timer ... hans piercing. On the other hand, it is hard to miss.

Bottom line
I like my new toaster oven, and have recommended it to friends who bought one for himself. Like many reviews of toaster ovens have said they do not make them like they used to. I will say this is the way they used to do them, but you sure pay a premium for it.

For the most part ... the offense looks just nice and René. It looks like a spaceship tracks on the disc.

Oooops! remains an important part, it is FACT, where your fun slots two position shelf / rack etc for different uses of the cooking / heating / grill, ETC. "Nice"

I need to replace an old furnace Toastmaster toaster. The toaster was super-simple: Set the desired toast darkness, and pressing a lever to start toasting. After nearly 20 years, died. I thought it would be easy to find a replacement for it but to my surprise that they do not do toaster ovens so simple in those days.

My main requirement for using a toaster as opposed to a vertical reading toaster was that I like to make toasted sandwiches. Unfortunately, most of those toaster ovens that I saw while researching several problems:

1) They require that you turn a dial to set the darkness every time.
2) The space between light and darkness was minimal, it gets in the way you want, every time, no easy task.
3) an annoying ticking sound.

Eventually I came across this Cuisinart TOB-40, and this was the toaster for me. It was exactly what I needed in a toaster. It solves these three problems: You can set it and forget it. Adjustments toast darkness is easy because there is a dial-up connection, dedicated, to put it. There is an on / off button, and * no ticking *. It also has a bonus of the rack, which extends automatically when the door opened.

If you're like me and need something that is more of a toaster than an oven, but is suitable for making sandwiches and toast larger items such as muffins, I would highly recommend this.

Cuisinart TOB-195 Exact Heat Toaster Oven Broiler, Stainless

se the oven and are minor compared to what this oven is right.

Cuisinart makes this oven a market disservice by labeling it a "toaster" oven. Rather it is a full fledged oven (reduced size), which also happens to toast your bread, too. Cuisinart has established a new category of furnaces with this. It has evolved way past the "toaster" phase.

I will try to cover everything I wanted to know if this oven when I am researching it:

Aesthetics:
Aesthetically, this oven turns everyone else on the market hands down.
If you are in, how the equipment looks like and how it works, you'll be very happy with this. It has a professional, sophisticated look of it, reinforced by steel against steel color combination. No black or white plastic look to cheapen it.

Functionality:
Large interior.

The digital control pad is very well marked and easy to use. LCD display is a must. I know that most toaster ovens operated by manual control rings, but I would never have one. I like to be able to enter what I want and watch it on the screen. I know that several things can go wrong with digital control, but I'll take my chances.

I wish the rack automatically slid out when the door opened. I hate having to use a pot holder just to get a piece of toast from the oven. On the other hand, it is no different than using a conventional oven and no one complains about it. All in all. Not a big thing I plan to get some straps to grasp small objects.

It is not as bright inside as it appears in the picture. This oven needs an interior light. I thought that my kitchen lighting will be bright enough, but the roof does not reach into the depths of the oven. It's very dark in there.

The crumb tray is a pain to come from behind. Would it have killed the designers to get the slides out from the front!

TOAST:
I am pleased that the voice quality of this oven. The preset default setting is # 4-Medium in 3 minutes. I generally use a higher setting # 5 or # 6 as I keep my bread frozen and prefer a darker crust, which requires extra time. In addition, I need not add the icing.

The toast was good. It was nicely toasted on both sides, one side a little more toasted than the other. But it takes a little longer to toast than I'm willing to wait - close to 5 minutes (setting # 6). Instead, I prefer the simple just let my bread in a toaster and less than 3 minutes later, it pops up hot and toasted. For a quick and simple piece of toast, I still use a regular toaster. No big deal, because as I mentioned earlier, I look at this Cuisinart as more of a mini-oven than a toaster anyway. But it ideal for roasting large issues bagels.

PIZZA / BAKE:
I'm not sure why they call it "Pizza / Bake," but it is the traditional bake feature (not to be confused with "convection" baking). I was eager to try the bake function, then did some Toll House cookies. It took only an amazing 3 minutes in oven preheated to 350 degrees. I mean, I had hardly sat down because it was beeping that it was finished. I was dumbfounded. My big oven takes about 10 minutes to warm.

The Toll House instructions call for baking 10 to 12 minutes. I usually cook them for 10 minutes in my big oven, so I set the timer for 10 minutes. Well I checked my cookies about 8 1 / 2 minutes because they were already well done!

I am surprised again at how well this oven is heated. Mon reviewer complained that their oven is heated 15-25 degrees lower than the set temperature. But I saw no temperature problems at all. If the oven is not incorrect, it will not affect its baking performance. It is when ordinary baking cooks so quickly, I wonder if I will ever use convection baking function.

CONVECTION Body:
I have not cooked with it yet, but I turned it on in order to ensure that it works and to hear how it sounds. There is a buzz from the convection fan, but it is not higher than the sound of my refrigerator compressor or my microwave when in use. Between washing machines, dryers, dishwashers, microwave ovens, mixers, etc. If you are not used to hear sounds from appliances now you must be an easily irritated person. LOL!

Broil: untested at this time. Will update later when they are used.

SECURITY:
In general, Cuisinart, a small oven, but an oven. This parasite is not heated to 500 degrees after all. Follow the same precautions as you would use your regular oven, and you will be fine.

I guess the exterior of this oven is hot to the touch. I did not notice. I have no plans to sit on top of the toaster oven or on the counter next to it. So the fact that the top and sides may heat is no problem for me. The front of the toaster oven can get hot too, but since I did not touch the door to my regular oven during use, I'm not going to touch that door, either.

I have no problems using the handle without worrying about burning my bare hands, though I confess I have small hands. Maybe someone with bigger hands may come into contact with the hot door, and it does not look like metal band below the handle is heat resistant, which would have avoided this problem entirely. Be careful.

The upper rack tray has a safety lock to prevent the racket accidentally slip out. Strangely enough, the bottom tray is not.

The shelf has raised corners. Good feature to prevent the pot from sliding off. Malfunction when you insert or remove a saucepan. Pans will not just slip in and out. You tilt it just a bit. Slope a pot full of hot liquids are never a good idea, so you must carefully maneuver.

ACCESSORIES:
The broiler pan and drip / baking sheet that comes with the oven is great. It is a very sturdy saucepan set. In the middle of the forehead is slightly raised so that the drippings to flow out to the sides - which will be useful when you use it as a roasting pan to cook greasy objects. I like the forehead, but it's a little big for my daily needs, so I bought a small saucepan set by the Chicago Metallic (which is very nice by the way). I want to save the Cuisinart pan over "this weekend" dishes - which I only cook for a typical week and does not draw a large saucepan.

Instruction:
Cuisinart contains a very detailed manual that covers everything you need to know. It also contains some very delicious recipes designed for this oven. Their recipe caught my attention so much that I was looking for more on the Cuisinart website. Yummy looking recipes there too.

QUALITY:
Generally I feel safe and comfortable to use this oven. Only time will tell how long it will hold up. Who knows, I wrote this rave review and next week the oven could break down at me. I hope not because I look forward to enjoying this oven for many years to come.
